Different Characters on Smash Bros Ultimate

In the past, there's been a lot of censorship with various Nintendo products. In Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS, there were several costumes that had to be censored due to being too revealing. While some of them made sense to have changed, such as the female Robin dress , other changes didn't make much sense such as removing Bayonetta's lollipop during a match.

However, it seems things have changed in the upcoming Super Smash Bros Ultimate for Nintendo Switch. In a recent interview with Kosuke Yabuki, he talked about how they're leaving everything up to Mr Sakurai when it comes to the roster. So when it comes to revealing the final roster, he will be leaving everything up to Sakurai's discretion, saying that they won't be censoring anything this time around.

Mr Sakurai has been known to include characters that fans have wanted for a long time, as well as including content from upcoming games as well as DLC. So now that Nintendo is leaving it up to him, what could we see in the future? We'll just have to wait until December 2018 when the game releases worldwide.

However, Yabuki did mention that they don't want the characters to stand out too much from each other, so there might be a limit to how "crazy" things will get.

This doesn't mean we won't see any returning characters. During the Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017 , Sakurai has confirmed that all previous (and the currently announced) Super Smash Bros characters will be returning to the new game. So even if we don't get any crazy costumes, there's still a ton of characters to pick from and enjoy!

The Nintendo Switch has been out for almost a year now, and it's extremely popular. So much so that it has outsold the Wii U in just 10 months .

With that in mind, we can expect Super Smash Bros Ultimate to sell like crazy once it releases. While the other characters might not have their own dedicated amiibo figures at this time, you should still get your hands on these other figures while they are available!

In conclusion, it's interesting to see Nintendo have a different approach with the Smash series. In previous entries they would censor content in order to keep a more family-friendly image for their games. However this time around, they seem to be leaving everything up to Sakurai and his staff which is definitely an interesting turn of events leading up to the release of the game.
